Privacy Policy

Effective date:

This policy describes how Platterday, a local-first recipe-planning app, and its public website handle information during everyday app use, website visits and support email. “We” means the developers of Platterday.

Information we collect

Platterday does not require or provide a Platterday account and has no developer-operated app backend. The app does not integrate analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs. We do not use its information for advertising, marketing or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell user data. Information you separately send for support is described under Email and support.

Recipes, source URLs, ingredients, instructions, tags, meal plans, grocery lists and items, store profiles, unit preferences, and weekly reminder settings are stored locally on your device using SwiftData and UserDefaults. The app does not send that content to us. Weekly planning reminders are local notifications, not remote push notifications, and do not include recipe, grocery, or store details.

Platterday reads the clipboard only after you tap Paste URL and places the copied text in the visible recipe URL field. It does not read the clipboard automatically or fetch a recipe until you start the import.

Information sent to recipe websites

When you import a recipe, Platterday requests the URL you entered directly from the recipe website. Requests use a desktop-style browser User-Agent and may follow redirects to another website. The app uses the system’s default shared network session, which may retain or reuse cookies and cached responses. A contacted website may receive the URL and query information, your IP address, request headers and applicable cookies, and may keep records under its own privacy practices. We do not operate a server for this request. Recipe information is parsed on your device and saved locally only if you choose to save it.

When you open a saved source link, the system browser and the linked website handle that visit under their own practices.

Visits to this website

When you open this Privacy Policy from Platterday or visit platterday.com, your browser connects to our website. We use Cloudflare for website hosting, secure storage of beta registrations and protection against automated abuse. Our hosting and security provider processes ordinary network and request information to deliver and protect the site. Our provider makes website request information available to us, including request time, method, host and path, response and cache status, source IP address and country. Our provider may also process browser User-Agent and request headers under its own privacy practices. Platterday does not append recipe, plan, grocery, store, purchase, clipboard, export, backup or reminder data to the policy URL.

We do not use website analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking. Our hosting and security provider may retain technical request and security logs under its own policies. We do not export or keep separate copies of those logs. The deletion periods for beta registrations and support emails do not apply to provider-controlled logs.

Optional beta participation

Applying for beta access or testing Platterday through TestFlight? See our Beta Testing & Registration Privacy Notice for additional information.

Apple services and purchases

Purchases, Redeem a Code, and Restore Purchases use Apple StoreKit. Apple handles payment, Apple Account, offer-code, transaction, and entitlement processing. We do not receive payment-card details or offer codes through the app. Platterday checks the StoreKit result on the device to determine whether access is active.

Export, backup, and other destinations

An export or backup can include recipes, source URLs, meal plans, grocery lists, store profiles, and settings. Export is user-initiated. A password-protected backup is encrypted, and the app does not store its password. Import reads only a file you select; restoring changes local data only after your confirmation.

You choose where an exported file is saved: Apple Files, iCloud Drive, a third-party file provider, or another destination. Once a file leaves the app, that provider or destination controls its storage, access, retention, and security. We do not receive a copy unless you separately send it to us.

Email and support

The Platterday app has no integrated support form or mail composer; the optional website beta registration form is separate and is not a support channel. If you email support@platterday.com, we receive your email address, message, attachments and other information you include. We use this correspondence to answer support questions and handle privacy requests. Our support address uses email forwarding, so email routing and mailbox providers, as well as your own email provider, may process the message under their own practices.

Please use fictional or redacted examples and remove personal information from screenshots before sending them. Do not send passwords, Apple credentials, purchase codes, payment or medical information, or full backup files. We promptly remove unnecessary sensitive attachments from copies we control. We delete resolved support correspondence and publisher-retained copies within 90 days after the request is closed, unless a documented legal obligation requires retention. A copy controlled by an email provider or another recipient may have a different retention period.

Children

Platterday is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child sent information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

Your choices and rights

You can view, edit, or delete local content in the app, or delete the app and its local data. Delete exported or backup copies separately from Files, iCloud Drive, or the destination you chose.

You can ask us about personal information we hold or can manage, including support correspondence and the beta information described in our Beta Testing & Registration Privacy Notice. We can delete registrations and copies we control and can remove feedback using Apple’s available controls, but cannot promise to erase all records retained by Apple, our hosting and security provider, email providers, recipe websites or your chosen file-storage providers. Provider-controlled recovery history and logs follow the separate limitations described in this policy and the beta notice. We will explain the limits that apply to your request and direct you to the relevant provider where necessary.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information we hold. Email support@platterday.com to make a request. We may use proportionate verification to protect your information and will respond as required by applicable law. Please do not send account credentials or unnecessary sensitive documents to verify your request.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Platterday changes. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. The hosted version of this policy is the canonical version.
